Klaus-Dieter Ludwig was a German rower born in Sulechów on January 2, 1943. He competed for East Germany as a coxswain from the 1960s to the 1980s. Ludwig began rowing in 1958, transitioning to coxswain after a few years. He won a silver medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics in the coxed four event and an gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the coxed eight event. His accolades also include four gold and three silver medals at the World Rowing Championships and a silver at the 1973 European Championships. He died on May 18, 2016.
