Kizō Hashimoto was a Japanese art critic born on September 14, 1912, in Kyoto. He graduated from Waseda University in 1936 and joined Asahi Shimbun in 1940, working as an art reporter in Kyoto and Osaka. In 1946, he co-founded the Kyoto Art Discussion Group and later served as a director. After retiring in 1967, he became a professor at Ikebana College in 1970 and a visiting professor in 1983. Hashimoto also directed the Asahi Art Center from 1975 to 1983.
