Kinmasa Katsuno (April 9, 1901 - January 13, 1984) was a Japanese writer and thinker known for his anti-Stalinist critiques. After studying French and Russian literature, he became active in communist movements in Paris and Moscow. He faced arrest and imprisonment during the Great Purge, ultimately returning to Japan. Often referred to as 'Japan's Solzhenitsyn' in the 21st century, he authored several works reflecting on his experiences in the Soviet Union, including his critique of the Stalinist regime. In 1989, his wrongful conviction was acknowledged, and his honor restored posthumously in 1996.
