Kinga was an Indian elephant (Elephas maximus) born in 1952 in northern Indochina and became a beloved resident at Stare Zoo in Poznań. She arrived at the zoo on September 8, 1955, at the age of 3.5 years and weighing 740 kg. Kinga was named after a public competition and made her public debut shortly after her arrival. Despite her capricious nature, she became a favorite among visitors, drawing large crowds. Kinga passed away on October 8, 2003, shortly after celebrating her 50th birthday due to circulatory disorders.
