She is honored with the Padma Shri for her cultural contributions between Korea and India, marking her as the first Korean recipient of this prestigious Indian award. A graduate of Ewha Womans University with a master's in Indian philosophy, she translated many works of Rabindranath Tagore into Korean and founded the Tagore Society of Korea. Her literary career began in 1969, leading to several acclaimed poetry collections and international recognition.
