Ken Whyld (6 March 1926 - 11 July 2003) was a British chess author and researcher known for co-authoring the 'Oxford Companion to Chess' with David Hooper, a comprehensive reference work in English chess. He was a strong amateur player and participated in the British Chess Championship in 1956. Later, Whyld transitioned into information technology and focused on researching the history of chess.
