Ken Hase was a Japanese novelist primarily writing for children. Born on October 17, 1904, Hase won the Akutagawa Prize in 1939 for his work 'Asakusa no kodomo,' which was inspired by his experiences as a teacher. His career was cut short when he died in a traffic accident at the age of 53 on December 21, 1957.
