Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, born on December 17, 1948, is a Turkish economist and politician, currently serving as the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the opposition leader in Turkey since 2010. He served as a member of parliament for Istanbul from 2002 to 2015 and then represented Izmir from June 7, 2015. Kılıçdaroğlu has a background in civil service, notably as the director-general of the Social Insurance Institution. He has been a key political figure advocating for social democracy and leading the CHP in attempts to challenge the ruling Justice and Development Party.
