Keiko Asō is a Japanese essayist and lyricist born in 1957 in Hita, Ōita Prefecture. During the 1980s, she gained prominence for writing numerous hit songs, particularly for idols. In the 1990s, she transitioned to become an essayist targeting young women, moving to Kyoto in 1996. She began living in a traditional town house with her architect husband in Kyoto and published various works related to Kyoto's lifestyle and culture. After a year in London, she returned to Japan and currently resides by Lake Biwa in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture while coping with progressive hearing loss.
