Kees van der Hoef was a Dutch writer born on January 3, 1935, in Grönnen; he passed away on March 7, 2018. He was known for writing in Plattdeutsch and wrote extensively about the history of Grönnen, as well as poems in both Dutch and Gronings. In the 1960s, he was part of the music scene with bands like Big Hill and the Rock Bombers, later shifting his focus to literature and poetry. In 2008, he became the first recipient of the Kees-van-der-Hoef-Prize.
