Cornelis (Kees) de Haas was a Dutch economist, maritime historian, and author born in Eindhoven in 1930. He worked as an economist for Jaarbeurs in Utrecht and became well-known for his books on Dutch passenger ships, notably 'De Grote Drie' which covers the Oranje, Willem Ruys, and Nieuw Amsterdam. Additionally, he authored works such as 'Zeeslepen onder de driekleur' and 'De Vier Zwarte Zeeën' (1992). De Haas contributed to the maritime magazine De Blauwe Wimpel for forty years and wrote articles for the Baarnsche Courant.
