Katsuyuki Ōyama (March 5, 1927 - December 19, 2006) was a Japanese meteorologist born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1951 and worked at the Central Meteorological Observatory before studying at New York University. He succeeded in elucidating the mechanism of typhoon development in the early 1960s through numerical experiments, significantly contributing to the field of meteorological research. He held positions at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the Hurricane Research Laboratory.
