Karol Halski was a Polish educator, philologist, and historian born on July 18, 1902, in Łękawica. He actively participated in the defense of Poland in September 1939 and served as a soldier in the Union of Armed Struggle and the Home Army. Halski was also a social activist dedicated to commemorating places of martyrdom. He passed away on February 2, 1983, in Tarnów.
