Karl Johan Mortensen was a Danish politician born on March 23, 1927, in Hampen and passed away on May 14, 1997. He served as the mayor of Vejle from 1978 to 1993 after entering the Folketing in 1969. He was the secretary for the Social Democratic parliamentary group from 1971-1977 and chaired various committees, including the Business Committee. Mortensen also briefly served in the European Parliament in 1973-1974. His political career included local government roles and leadership positions within the Social Democrats in Vejle.
