Karim Younis (born December 24, 1956) is a former Palestinian prisoner from Arabi 48, specifically from the village of Ara in northern Israel. He was captured by the Israeli army on June 1, 1983, while still in school and released on January 5, 2023. Younis is currently recognized as the oldest Palestinian prisoner in Israeli prisons and the oldest prisoner in the world. His original sentence included charges of possession of banned weapons and the killing of an Israeli soldier, initially facing the death penalty, he was ultimately sentenced to 40 years.
