Karel Lažnovský was a journalist, editor, and political publicist born on March 8, 1906, in Motyčín, Czech Republic, and died on October 11, 1941, in Prague. He was an active communist until 1933, then shifted to nationalist views and wrote for the newspaper České slovo. During the Protectorate, he supported the occupying powers and was poisoned by members of the democratic resistance. His death was attributed to typhus following an assassination attempt prompted by the then Prime Minister Alois Eliáš.
