Kåre Elgmork (1924-2011) was a notable Norwegian zoologist recognized for his contributions to freshwater ecology and bear studies in Norway. He earned his dr.philos. degree in 1959 and became a docent at the University of Oslo in 1964, later advancing to a professorship in 1985. A member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters from 1986, Elgmork was honored as a Knight of the Order of St. Olav. He passed away in November 2011, in Bærum, where he had been living in Ringstabekk.
