Kanisuke Takeshiba (1904-1989) was a prominent Kabuki playwright from Tokyo, born Koga Yoshikazu. He studied under Takehiba Shinkichi and became a resident playwright at the Kabukiza Theatre in 1925, contributing significantly as a behind-the-scenes worker. He was a leading figure in the Kan'tyū-ryū style and joined the National Theatre of Japan upon its opening in 1966. His contributions to Kabuki were recognized when he received the Yoshikawa Eiji Cultural Award in 1987.
