Kan'ichi Kon was a Japanese novelist born on December 8, 1909, in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. He was the grandson of Sanjiro Fujita and the third son of Go Imamiya. He studied at Tohoku Gakuin and was baptized by Shigeharu Nakata in 1926. Kon dropped out of Waseda University and was closely associated with fellow author Osamu Dazai, having named the Cherry Blossom Festival. His notable work 'Kabe no Hana' won him the prestigious Naoki Prize in 1956.
