Kakuji Inagawa was a prominent Japanese yakuza boss, recognized for founding the Inagawa-kai, Japan's third-largest yakuza syndicate. Born in November 1914, he started his criminal career as a teenage enforcer and later served in World War II. In 1949, he established the Inagawa-gumi, the precursor to the Inagawa-kai. Renowned as an elder statesman and peacemaker in the yakuza world, he aimed to unite gangs against communism, exemplifying his views in the Kanto-kai federation in the early 1960s. Inagawa passed away on December 22, 2007.
