Yuri Ivanovich Menyakin (1925-2002) was a Soviet architect and an honored citizen of Saratov. He was awarded the title of Honored Architect of the RSFSR in 1975 and the State Prize of the RSFSR in 1987. Menyakin was also a recipient of the USSR State Construction Award and served as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences. A veteran of the Great Patriotic War, he is noted for his design of the Memorial Complex "Cranes" honoring soldiers from Saratov who died in World War II. He was the chief architect of Saratov from 1962 to 1987.
