Junko Kasei (July 3, 1933 - January 23, 1952) was a Japanese painter from Sapporo, Hokkaido. Noted for her prodigious talent, she became known as a 'genius girl painter' after winning awards at numerous exhibitions in her mid-teens, including the Hokkaido Road Exhibition. Tragically, she died at the young age of 18, with her death attributed to suicide for reasons that remain unclear. Kasei served as a model for one of Junichi Watanabe's autobiographical novels and was notable for being the author's first love.
