Jun'ichirō Tanaka (December 3, 1902 - March 26, 1989) was a Japanese film historian, film critic, and editor. His real name was Hisaiichi Matsukura. Tanaka is best known for his work 'A History of the Development of Japanese Cinema' which significantly contributed to the understanding of Japanese cinema. Throughout his career, he provided critical insights into film theory and history, influencing the appreciation of film in Japan.
