Jun'ichi Nomura (March 10, 1935 - June 20, 2007) was a Japanese folklorist, cultural anthropologist, and scholar of classical Japanese literature. He earned his Doctor of Letters degree with a dissertation titled 'Research on the Transmission of Folktales' in 1985. Nomura was an emeritus professor at Kokugakuin University and was honored with the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2000. He was also awarded the rank of Fifth Order of the Sacred Treasure for his contributions to the fields of folklore and cultural studies.
