Julio Silva was a French painter and sculptor born in Concordia, Entre Ríos, Argentina in 1930. He moved to Paris in 1955 and became a French national in 1967. Silva was known for illustrating several covers for the works of noted Argentine author Julio Cortázar, including the famous novel 'Rayuela'. His artistic contributions bridged his Argentine roots with his adopted French culture until his passing in Paris on April 4, 2020.
