Julio Martín Viera is an Argentine composer and music educator born on August 28, 1943, in Buenos Aires. He studied composition at the Universidad Católica in Buenos Aires. Viera served as secretary of the Federación Argentina de Música Electroacústica from 1985 to 1998 and was the head of the Musical Research and Production Laboratory (LIPM) from 1984 to 2009. He taught at the University of La Plata and was a professor of composition at the Universidad Católica from 1997 to 2007. Viera's work includes chamber music, vocal and orchestral pieces, and electroacoustic music.
