He graduated from the Colegio de Ciencias and later studied at the Universidad de San Antonio Abad, focusing on Letters, Law, and Pedagogy. He earned his teaching degree in 1928 and served as a lecturer in various subjects, including History and Archaeology. He obtained a doctorate in 1937 with a thesis on Cuzco's history and later traveled to Spain for research. He was also the dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy in 1948 and left behind an unfinished work on the Peru-Bolivian Confederation.
