Sir Julian Hodge was a prominent banker born on October 15, 1904, in London. He later lived in Wales, where he founded the Commercial Bank of Wales and several other financial companies. He became a subject of mockery in the magazine Private Eye, with allegations of charging excessively high interest on loans. Towards the end of his life, he supported a campaign against the establishment of a National Assembly for Wales. His bank was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland, but he continued operating another private bank named Julian Hodge Bank.
