Juan Carreño Sandoval was a Mexican football player born on August 14, 1909, who played for the national team in the 1930 FIFA World Cup held in Uruguay. He is recognized by FIFA as the first Mexican player to score a goal in the tournament. Additionally, he made history as the first Mexican to score in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. Carreño's career was cut short when he passed away from appendicitis at the young age of 31 on December 16, 1940.
