Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía, also known as Chupeta and El Patron, is a Colombian drug lord born on February 16, 1963, in Palmira, Colombia. He is the head of the Norte del Valle Cartel, the largest cocaine cartel in Colombia. His wealth from drug trafficking is estimated at $1.8 billion by the DEA. Under his leadership, the Norte del Valle Cartel surpassed the Cali and Medellín cartels in the 1990s. Abadía was one of the most wanted drug traffickers and was arrested in August 2007. Brazil's Supreme Court approved his extradition to the U.S. in March 2008.
