Jozef Masure (April 27, 1915 - March 28, 1993) was the last mayor of Merksem (1987-1982) before the municipality merged into the city of Antwerp on October 1, 1983. He is remembered for his leadership during this transition period. The Jozef Masurebrug (bridge) is named in his honor, commemorating his contributions to the local community and governance.
