Jerzy Józef Kopeć was a Polish Passionist priest, theologian, and liturgist born on December 11, 1938. He joined the Passionists in 1956 and was ordained a priest in 1963. Kopeć obtained his Master's degree in pastoral theology from the Catholic University of Lublin in 1965. He earned his doctorate in 1971 and worked as a researcher and educator at KUL, becoming a professor in 1991. He published extensively on liturgical formation, religious culture, and liturgical theology, and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2004.
