Josu Oregi Aranburu was a Basque scholar born on December 18, 1919, in Bergara, who passed away on April 14, 1995. His father was a nationalist councilor, leading to his exile during the Spanish Civil War. After returning, he worked in the family business, Oregi Textilean. He was appointed as a euskaltzain urgazle in 1965 and participated in the Arantzazuko Assembly in 1968. He was also involved in the translation services when the Basque Parliament was established.
