Josep Maria Jané i Samsó was a Catalan cultural promoter born on January 28, 1923, in l'Arboç, Baix Penedès. He co-directed the clandestine magazine Fe i Vida from 1948 to 1966 and was a friend of Joan Ballester i Canals. In 1948, he founded the Arxiu Arbocenc and has supported the Centre d'Estudis Colombins in Catalonia since 1989. He contributed to the formation of Òmnium Cultural in Penedès in 1972 and founded the Institut d'Estudis Penedesencs in 1977. He received several awards, including the Creu de Sant Jordi in 1995.
