Josef Novotný (born March 29, 1956, in Hradec Králové) is a former Czech volleyball player who represented Czechoslovakia. He won a silver medal at the 1985 European Championship and a bronze at the 1985 World Cup. Novotný participated in three world championships and five European championships, and played in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He is a six-time Czechoslovak champion, earned accolades as Czechoslovak Volleyball Player of the Year four times, and was inducted into the Czech Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1999. He later pursued coaching and business.
