Josef Hugo Dischner (1902-1989) served as the commandant of the Westerbork transit camp during World War II. He held the rank of SS-Obersturmführer and took over from camp commandant Erich Deppner on September 1, 1942. Dischner was known for his cruelty and alcohol abuse. His tenure was short-lived, as he was replaced on October 9, 1942, by Police Inspector Bohrmann, who in turn was succeeded by Albert Konrad Gemmeker just three days later.
