José María Marín Quemada is a Spanish economist born in Madrid on October 17, 1948. He served as the first president of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) from 2013 to 2020. Prior to that, he was a councilor at the Bank of Spain and a member of its Governing Council from 2005 to 2013. Before 2004, he held various positions in the private sector. His extensive background in economics positions him as an influential figure in Spanish regulatory affairs.
