José Manuel García Gómez was a significant Spanish poet and writer born in Cádiz on November 18, 1930. He co-founded the literary magazine 'Caleta' in 1953, which featured influential Spanish poets of the time. An active cultural figure in post-war Cádiz, he championed the preservation of the city's heritage, notably saving the Arco de la Rosa from demolition. In 1970, he established Argantonio School in Cádiz and served as its director until his passing on February 16, 1994.
