José Farías Ríos was a Peruvian athlete born on October 20, 1909, who became the South American champion in 1935. He won the 32-kilometer road race at the championships in Santiago, Chile, with a significant lead over his competitor. Farías also competed in the 1936 Olympics in the marathon, finishing in last place. In the following year, he earned two silver medals at the South American Championships in São Paulo, showing his skills in both cross-country and long-distance running.
