José Cortina Vallina was an Asturian singer known as 'Josipu'. Born on January 11, 1910, in Samartín del Rei Aurelio, he began singing traditional Asturian music in his youth, participating in numerous contests throughout Asturias. Throughout his career, he formed a close friendship with fellow singer Arsenio Fernández, known as El Polenchu. Despite his extensive career in traditional Asturian song, he never recorded an album. He passed away in his hometown on January 20, 1997.
