Jorge Dávila Vázquez is an Ecuadorian writer and critic born in 1947 in Cuenca, Azuay. He studied at Universidad de Cuenca and grew up in a literary environment influenced by his uncle César Dávila Andrade. Interested in theater, he received a scholarship to study stage direction in France in 1970/71. His notable works include the poetry book 'Nueva canción de Eurídice y Orfeo' (1975), the novel 'María Joaquina en la vida y en la muerte' (1976), and the collection 'Este mundo es el camino' (1980), winning the Premio Aurelio Espinosa Pólit. In 2016, he received the Premio Nacional Eugenio Espejo.
