Jordi Jordan Farnós is a Catalan historian and politician, born in Tortosa on February 13, 1983. He is a former member of the Parliament of Catalonia and the current mayor of Tortosa. He holds a degree in History from the University of Barcelona, a master's degree in Mediterranean Cultural Studies from the Rovira i Virgili University, and a postgraduate degree in Transformative Political Ideas and Experiences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is a Professor of Geography and History at the Tortosa Institute and an associate professor in the Department of History and Art History at the Rovira i Virgili University. In 2011, he was elected councilor to the City Council of Tortosa for Iniciativa-Entesa per Tortosa; in 2015, he co-founded Movem Tortosa and ran for mayor. In 2019, he ran again and became the second largest force in the municipality, increasing his vote share from 16% to 21%. On February 14, 2021, he was elected Member of the Parliament of Catalonia after Movem Terres de l'Ebre allied with Catalunya en Comú and proposed him as the head of the list for the Tarragona constituency. In this legislature, he was the spokesperson for the ECP parliamentary group in the Education and Justice committees. He ran for mayor again in the 2023 municipal elections, becoming mayor on June 17, as a result of the (Movem PSC)-ERC-CUP pact.
