Jón Kristinn Gunnarsson was an Icelandic shipmaster, journalist, editor, and director of the Marine Museum in Hafnarfjörður. He revived the magazine Spegilinn in 1965 and served as its editor until 1968. He initiated the establishment of the Marine Museum in 1969 and led it until its closure in 1987. During this time, he was involved in capturing orcas to sell to aquariums worldwide, generating revenue for the museum. He also founded the publishing house Rauðskinna.
