John David Treadgold was an Anglican priest born on 30 December 1931. He pursued his education at the University of Nottingham and was ordained in 1960 after studying at Wells Theological College. Treadgold served as Vicar Choral at Southwell Minster and held positions at Wollaton and St Cuthbert's Church in Darlington. He was a canon at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and became Dean of Chichester in 1989, retiring in 2001. A gargoyle at Chichester Cathedral was modeled after his likeness. He passed away on 15 February 2015.
