John C. Servis, born on October 25, 1958, in Charles Town, West Virginia, is an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. He gained recognition in May 2004 when his horse Smarty Jones won the Kentucky Derby, followed by a victory in the Preakness Stakes. Servis also trained Cathryn Sophia, who won the 2016 Kentucky Oaks, and Jaywalk, who triumphed at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2018. Raised in a racing family, he trained his 1,000th winner on May 1, 2007. He operates primarily out of Parx Casino and Racing in Pennsylvania.
