Sir John Richard Pestell KCVO (1916–2005) was a prominent figure in Rhodesian governance and law enforcement. After joining the British South Africa Police in 1939, he served in the British Army during WWII. Following his police career, he became Private Secretary to the Governor of Rhodesia, Sir Humphrey Gibbs, during tumultuous years in the region. He was later appointed chief adjudicator on immigration appeals at Heathrow and was knighted in 1969 for his service.
