John Robert Nimmo was a New Zealand cricketer, born on June 12, 1910, in Dunedin. He played two first-class matches for Otago in the 1930s, establishing himself as a competitive fast bowler. Nimmo's debut was in December 1933, where he took two wickets. He played again against Canterbury in February 1937, achieving a notable score of 42 not out. Besides representative matches, he played club cricket for Carisbrook and Balclutha. Nimmo passed away on November 2, 1994, at the age of 84, with his contributions to cricket recognized in an obituary in the New Zealand Cricket Almanack.
