John Mitchell Sr. was an American outfielder who played in the Negro leagues from 1955 to 1960 for the Detroit Stars and Birmingham Black Barons. He was born on December 25, 1937, in Autauga County, Alabama. Notably, he participated in the East–West All-Star Game in both 1958 and 1960. He passed away in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 28, 2020, at the age of 82.
