John M. Nickolaus, Jr. was an American cinematographer born on May 18, 1913, who began his career in the late 1940s working for MGM. In the 1950s, he transitioned to directing for both film and television, contributing to popular series such as Perry Mason, Rawhide, and Gunsmoke. He co-created the series The Outer Limits alongside Conrad Hall, which aired from 1963 to 1965. Nickolaus continued his work in television until shortly before his death on February 10, 1985.
