John Meredith 'Jack' Langstaff (1920-2005) was a concert baritone and early music revivalist who founded the Christmas Revels, an annual celebration of music and dance that blends medieval and modern traditions. A dedicated music educator, he taught at several prestigious schools and published numerous educational materials. He recorded traditional music and was involved with cultural organizations. Langstaff received the Caldecott Medal for his book Frog Went A-Courtin'. His life and contributions were chronicled in the documentary To Drive The Dark Away.
